Patient Access - Quick, Safe, Comfortable

Entry into and exit out of the PerPedes are achieved via the patient lift system within the crane, which can be operated either through the tablet computer or foot switches. This relieves the therapist from heavy lifting, allowing him to guide and support the patient in order to feel safer.

Since the footplates are connected to the basis of the device, instead of feeling like they are floating, patients feel like they are standing safely on the ground. This not only leads to a higher subjective feeling of safety but also aligns perception with the reality of walking.

Plantar Flexion - Natural Walking Motion

During normal walking rear leg toes are pushed into the ground until a solid grip is achieved. This is followed by toe muscles moving the body forward.

Reproducing plantar flexion during foot lifting as well as initial contact of the heel during foot placement are essential for replicating natural walking motion. PerPedes is the only gait rehabilitation device that can achieve both.

Torso Control and Weight Support

Pelvis and torso move on multiple levels while walking normally: The pelvis rotates and is also moved transversally onto the supporting leg. The torso moves vertically.

PerPedes hip control allows the reproduction of hip rotation and hip translation. Depending on therapeutic necessity the pelvis can be actively moved or supported.

Torso movement is reproduced through the dynamic vertical mechanism in the patient lift system (up to 5cm). At the same time this mechanism allows for body weight relief from 0 - 100%.

Intuitive Operation

PerPedes is operated via a tablet computer that can be placed on either side of the gait training robot.

The user interface, consisting of patient lift system, therapy control system, force feedback system and patient database, can be operated intuitvely.

Feedback System

The integrated force feedback system shows the patient‘s self-activity. The loading and unloading of both feet is recorded by the system via six built-in sensors per foot and the data is reported back to the therapist.

Activation of data saving is optional for each user. The data can be easily evaluated.

PATIENT FILE

For each patient a basic setting can be stored by PerPedes. With each returning patient, a rapid readjustment of the gait training robot is possible.

PerPedes not only allows you to adjust the step length but also the distance between the feet. 60% support leg phase and 40% swing leg phase are achieved. This corresponds to the natural course at normal walking speed.
